History
By 2071 Miles is serving as Doohan's assistant, pitching in wherever a job demands. After Spike Spiegel's ship dies en route to the compound, Miles drives out to collect him, hauling the Swordfish II home while keeping up friendly chatter that Spike scarcely returns. He helps patch the craft up and orders a missing part from Reggie. Once Spike departs, the young mechanic overhears the Swordfish trading signals with the Bebop and reads danger in it. He warns Doohan, and when the old man resolves to send the Columbia shuttle up after them, Miles tows it out and rides shotgun into orbit. The pair manage to catch the Swordfish and haul Spike clear, and everyone then weathers a white-knuckle landing.
