The Central City receptionist is an unnamed clerk of the Amestrian military who staffs the headquarters lobby beside the telephones Maes Hughes so often uses. A minor but recurring face, she is remembered chiefly for her exasperated fondness toward Hughes and her grief at his death.
The receptionist wears her wavy, shoulder-length hair with a long strand framing each side of her face, the back gathered under a thick clip that is black in the manga and teal in the 2009 anime. Coloring varies by adaptation. The original manga only shades her hair dark and gives her black eyes, the 2003 anime paints her in very dark brown, and the 2009 anime settles on a dark, greenish dirty-blonde paired with light lavender eyes. She is shown exclusively in the standard female military uniform, its skirt cut above the knee, worn with thick-heeled black pumps.
Warm but easily worn down, she treats Hughes with the weary patience of a colleague who has heard about his family one too many times. She scolds him for hogging the phone to brag, yet the teasing carries genuine affection, and her irritation flips instantly to concern the moment she realizes he is hurt. That caring streak comes through most plainly in her rush to fetch a first aid kit and, later, in the tears she cannot hold back while recounting his final moments.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Her role tracks Hughes across his last days. She debuts by chiding him after a call to Mustang about the killer Scar, the exact complaint shifting between adaptations, and appears again as a wounded Hughes drags himself to the lobby phone following Lust's attack. Alarmed by his bleeding, she moves to help, but he hangs up, apologizes, and leaves without treatment, in part, it is suggested, to keep her out of harm's way. She is seen a final time beside Focker, weeping as Mustang questions her about the circumstances of Hughes' death. In the 2003 anime her part is small and largely absorbed by Sheska, who fills a nearly identical role as the colleague forever exasperated by Hughes yet present for his end.
