Tacchan

Tacchan is never shown in any clear detail. Like the rest of the figures populating Garou's childhood memories, he appears only as a dark, featureless silhouette.

He was the classic popular tormentor, singling out the outcasts of his class with Garou as a recurring target. For all his swagger he was gutless, leaning on his pack of friends to overpower anyone brave enough to resist him, as when he had two of them pin Garou down for him. His charm was real, too, winning over teachers to the point that one turned a blind eye to how far his behavior went. Underneath it all he proved selfish and pitiless, savoring the misery he caused and exploiting both his charisma and the kids beneath him in the social order to slip free of any consequence.

Garou sat in Tacchan's class, where the bully liked to act out hero fantasies as a character called Justice Man. One day mid game, Tacchan leapt from a high ledge and drove a kick into an innocent bystander. When Garou pointed out how reckless that was, Tacchan turned on him, branding him the next victim and lashing out with a move he dubbed his Justice Man Cross Chops. Garou dodged, sending Tacchan tumbling, and the bully whined that his fingers had gotten dirty before ordering two friends to restrain his target so he could land his Justice Man Kick.

From then on Tacchan always cast Garou as the villain and himself as the righteous hero. Fed up with the forced role, Garou finally challenged him to a straight fight, proposing that a win would buy him peace. Tacchan sneered at the offer as a childish hero game and had his friends Sabu and Yocchan hold Garou fast while the others jeered at him for daring to defy the well liked boy. That relentless bullying hardened into Garou's belief that heroes serve only themselves and that justice is simply whatever the favored majority decides. Rejecting that rigged system, he took up the mantle of a monster, while also nursing an ideal of a hero who could truly save everyone.
