Jeffly Frank

Frank turns up in a single session as a uniformed officer of the Io Police Department, and the show never gives him much of a designed identity beyond that. His name is not something the credits supply, since the production simply billed him as Police 1. The label fans attach to him instead comes from a small plaque resting on the desk in his office.

What little the series shows of Frank paints an ordinary working policeman rather than a hardened investigator. He is a family man, married, and easily pulled off task by a phone call from his wife in the middle of questioning a suspect. That mix of dutiful routine and domestic distraction is exactly what lets a slippery detainee get the better of him.

Frank and a fellow officer are hunting for the fugitive Domino Walker when their search brings them to a filling station. There they run into the bounty hunter Coffee, question her, and go through her vehicle. What they find leaves them baffled, since a young girl named Edward and a dog called Ein are riding along, so they haul Coffee back to the precinct for further questioning.

Frank takes her into his office to press her for answers. Midway through, his wife rings him and his attention drifts. Coffee, spotting the child through a window, seizes the moment: she quietly lifts the key to her car and slips out to chase after Ed while Frank is looking the other way.
