Gameplay

The disc behaves like a practice booth rather than a story game. Players sit at a virtual pachinko table or pachislot reel bank and run through the same ball drops, reel stops, and bonus routines found on the physical Bisty cabinets, with licensed Evangelion animations playing during hits and jackpot chances. There is no narrative campaign; the point is learning machine behavior and probability without spending real yen.

This is the fifth PlayStation 2 volume in D3 Publisher's long-running Kouryaku Series of pachinko and pachislot simulators, part of a wave of Evangelion arcade tie-ins that ran from the mid-2000s into the 2020s. Despite the Vol. 5 label, it was the second Evangelion-themed cabinet Bisty had produced, following an earlier CR Evangelion machine covered in Vol. 1 of the same software line.

Release

It shipped in Japan on June 8, 2006, for PlayStation 2 only, with no release outside Japan. Coverage is thin even by the standards of licensed pachinko software; the only English-language commentary found is a single dismissive GameFAQs user review, and most surviving documentation comes from secondhand listings and ROM archives rather than press outlets.
