Gameplay

Up to twenty players drop into a shrinking battlefield and fight from a third person view using their character's Stand powers. Matches follow the usual battle royale loop: scavenge the map, stay ahead of the closing danger zone, and outlast every other Stand user in the arena. A leveling system lets players collect poker chips dropped by defeated opponents, and spending those chips unlocks stronger versions of a character's abilities as a round goes on.

Premise

Instead of following a single storyline, Last Survivor pulls its roster from across the series, throwing Stand users from Stardust Crusaders, Diamond is Unbreakable, and Golden Wind into the same arena regardless of the arcs they originally appeared in. The battle royale format itself stands in for a plot: fighters are simply gathered to see whose Stand comes out on top. Cabinet updates after launch expanded the cast further, adding characters from later parts such as Stone Ocean's Enrico Pucci.

Release

Bandai Namco announced Last Survivor for Japanese arcades in December 2018 and ran a location test the following month. The cabinet, developed by the studio Historia, was originally planned for a summer 2019 launch but slipped to December 18, 2019. It stayed a Japan only arcade release rather than moving to home consoles, and Bandai Namco kept supporting it after launch through periodic character and content updates.
