History

Though he has only just begun at the Academy, Kande already shows a solid grip on Lightning Release, drawing it from his hair to fling accurate bolts and even kindle a fire for cooking. He enrolls with a new class placed under the teacher Hana Kaka, a group packed with the children of notable figures, among them the Seventh Hokage's daughter and Kae Yukiwari, princess of the Land of Bamboo, along with the older student Kawaki.

Assigned to a practice squad with Konashi Nerikiri and Mimi Inuzuka, he lights a cook fire with his lightning during a teamwork exercise, and he plays Gamabunta when the class stages a production about the Sannin. He pitches in on repairs after the set is wrecked and helps ready the stalls for a festival, staying indoors when a terrorist threat surfaces. After Hana is hospitalized by the attack, the class is sent to an uninhabited island for survival training, where vanished supplies and rumors of killer missing-nin put everyone on edge.

Learning from Kawaki and Himawari that Hana is actually an assassin who went after Kae, the students band together to track her to a cave and ultimately help recover the princess. With Hana's true teacher self winning out and Kae bound for home, the class finally performs its Sannin play and sees her off at the train station.
