Yusaku Yara

In the Ufotable adaptation of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Yara lends his voice to Tecchin Tecchikawahara. The part draws on the deep, seasoned tone that Yara has cultivated across a long career voicing elder figures and authority roles, adding him to the production's roster of established Japanese performers.

Born in Tokyo on March 15, 1948, Yara built a career as an actor, voice actor and narrator that stretches from the mid-1970s onward. He works under a stage name; his legal name is Susumu Kawabe, and earlier in his career he performed as Tetsu Kurobe. His best-known voice roles include Sagittarius Aiolos in Saint Seiya, Hiroshi Sakura in Chibi Maruko-chan, Renzaburō Taki in Wicked City, Gillian Seed in Snatcher, and Kiteretsu's father in Kiteretsu Daihyakka. He also voiced Sally's father in the 1989 version of Sally the Witch, Jacky Zalshiev in Fang of the Sun Dougram, Saburō Umezu in Zipang, and Senbei Norimaki in the remake of Dr. Slump. In addition, he served as the first Japanese dubbing voice for Arnold Schwarzenegger during the actor's early years. For a time Yara was the representative director of the voice talent agency vi-vo, which later closed as he advanced in age.
