Jerso is a soldier turned human chimera who once served as one of Solf J. Kimblee's bodyguards before switching sides. Able to shift into a bulky, frogfish-like beast, he throws in with the Elric brothers and his partner Zampano against the homunculi while hoping to reclaim his old human form.
Military experiments turned Jerso from an ordinary soldier into a human-based chimera. At will he can drop his human shape and swell into a big, amphibious brute that looks like an upright frogfish, part toad and part angler, though the change leaves off any spines. In that beast form his upper half in particular carries the froggish, anglerfish cast.
The grim, menacing soldier Jerso first appears to be masks who he really is: warm, chatty, and quick with a joke, a side that only surfaces once he walks away from the army. He needles his partner Zampano and generally keeps the mood light. Becoming a chimera left him ashamed of losing his humanity, so although he loves his country and his family dearly, he holds himself apart from them rather than return in his altered state. Learning that the change might be undone fills him with hope and steel, and he throws himself against the government out of real loyalty to the friends he has made.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
While still in uniform, Jerso and Zampano work as Kimblee's bodyguards. Sent after Scar in the mining town of Baschool, the pair nearly corner him thanks to their read on his tactics, until the Elric brothers step in, knock the two chimeras out, and pin Scar down. Alphonse talks Major Miles out of executing them by dangling the chance to recover their real bodies, and they slip away through an old mine shaft alongside Scar, Yoki, May Chang, and Dr. Marcoh. At an Ishvalan refugee camp the group draws out Envy, and Jerso's attacks help wear the homunculus down before Marcoh's Philosopher's Stone finishes the job. Afterward he and Zampano lend a hand rebuilding Reole, then travel to Central and regroup with Hohenheim, Fu, and Lan Fan along with Edward, Darius, and Heinkel. During Mustang's assault on the capital they slip into its depths and seize the Gold-Toothed Doctor with Jerso's sticky spit, though Pride wounds him and puts him out of the rest of the fight. By the finale he and Zampano sit in a café weighing ways to reclaim their bodies, ready to head for Xing as Alphonse's guards.
