Roco Bonnaro

Barely into adulthood at twenty-one, Roco has brown hair paired with blue eyes and calls Venus home. His sidearm of choice is a Browning Hi-Power.

Family drives Roco. Everything he does traces back to his blind younger sister Stella and his hope of restoring her sight, a goal that pulls him into organized crime. He is also earnest and admiring, taken with Spike's fighting style and begging to be taught, though he struggles to grasp the notion of moving 'fluid like water.'

Roco falls into organized crime to provide for Stella, always hunting for a way to cure her blindness. His opening comes when Calvino's outfit lifts a Grey Ash plant, which Roco snatches for himself before boarding a spaceliner bound for Venus. Criminals briefly seize the liner until Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine put them down, a display that leaves Roco impressed with Spike. At the spaceport he mails a music box stuffed with Grey Ash seeds to Stella while keeping the mature plant, then talks Spike into teaching him to fight. When Calvino's men close in, Roco hands the plant to Spike and arranges to meet the next day. Cornered in a restroom, he is beaten and forced to lead Calvino to their cathedral rendezvous. There he learns Spike is a bounty hunter and grows distraught, yet Spike's sympathy for his cause moves Roco to tell him to run. Surrounded, Roco buys Spike time; he even lands a hit using Spike's technique, but his flash of pride costs him, and a thug shoots him through the back. Spike reaches his side and rushes for help, leaving Roco to muse that the two might have been friends had they met sooner. He does not survive.
