Story / Setting

Set within the world of the Rebuild of Evangelion films, the game places the player as a newly transferred student at Shinji Ikari's junior high in Tokyo-3, building friendships with Rei, Asuka, and other familiar characters. Progress centers on gathering scene-based Memories tied to the films and using them to intercept attacking Angels alongside a network of in-game friends, working toward staving off a Third Impact.

Gameplay

As a Mobage social game, MEMORIA runs on quest progression, character and memory collection through gacha-style draws, and cooperative play built around other players' friend lists rather than direct one-on-one combat control. Seasonal events layered in extra costumes and character variants, including winter outfits timed to the real-world calendar.

Development and Release

Taito Corporation developed the game with COPRO under license from khara, launching on smartphones on August 21, 2012 and on DeNA's Mobage Town portal that September. It grew quickly, passing two million registered players within months and getting a further boost around the release of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, before DeNA and Taito shut the service down on March 31, 2014.
