Daibutsu is a member of the first incarnation of Akatsuki, back when the group fought as idealists rather than criminals. Loyal and near-silent, he stood with Yahiko's cause and ultimately lost his life in a failed bid to bring down Tobi.
With his shaved head, broad ears, and a wart set just above his narrow eyes, Daibutsu calls to mind the great Buddha statues that dot the buildings of Amegakure. His eyes carry a tan colouring, and his lips are notably wide.
Daibutsu says almost nothing. His manner is calm and reserved, and he tends to answer his leader Yahiko with little more than a nod.

Forming the necessary seals, he can shape the water into methods such as the Water Prison and steer it as he pleases. He once joined forces with Kyusuke to take on Tobi and Zetsu, but the effort came to nothing, and a later attempt on Tobi's life cost him his own.
