Daimaru

Bandages and a purple forehead protector hide most of Daimaru's light brown hair, leaving a plain face lit by pale purple eyes. For clothing he keeps to Suna's regular shinobi gear, slipping a hood beneath the flak jacket.

Theatrical and brimming with self-regard, Daimaru crowns himself the Red Sand Cloud and plays every emotion to the hilt. Being bossed around grates on him, and he holds a grudge against Konoha ninja like Torune. His feelings for Temari run so deep that her fearsome kin, a Kazekage for a father and Gaara for a brother, never once rattle him, even back when Gaara was at his cruelest. Too shy to admit his crush as a boy, he settles for pranks to earn a glance her way. Once dead and figuring nothing is left to lose, he blurts out his love, shrugs off being hurled into a boulder, and waves her a smiling farewell as the seal takes him. That same stubborn spirit lets him defy Kabuto's hold over his revived body and simply refuse to fight.

Daimaru grows up in Suna, loses his heart to Temari early, and never lets go, but his life ends young when a C-rank mission kills him. Long after, Kabuto revives him through the Impure World Reincarnation and, judging him a feeble piece, hands him the job of freeing the stronger reanimated shinobi. At the spot where the Third Raikage lies sealed, he works his Earth Release across the dunes, reshaping the ground to clear away the snares that the Allied Shinobi Forces had planted. Kabuto counts him among the botched revivals, yet he fights with care and is among the last failures to be put down. Deciding a dead man risks nothing, he seeks out Temari, bares his heart, and lets the seal claim him. When the reincarnation technique is finally undone, his soul goes home to the afterlife.
