Appearance

Goji's long, beak-like nose and orange hair give him the look of a tengu, an impression sharpened by the purple markings trailing around his eyes and cheeks and by his yellow, black-pupilled eyes. He wears a short brown poncho over a navy kimono shirt cinched with a pale blue sash, brown guards on his arms, baggy black trousers, bandaged ankles, and the usual shinobi sandals.

Abilities

Goji is a dedicated kunai specialist who keeps a large supply on hand at all times. He flings them as projectiles with the aid of a string or fights up close with them, and can grip as many as three in a single hand. He also draws on Water Release to spit water needles that stun his targets, and his reflexes are quick enough to bat aside a whole volley from Tenten, though he was still caught out by one of Lee's tricks in the process.

History

Goji and his team joined the joint Chunin Exams and were among the few to clear the first round. Temari, overseeing the second stage, launched it inside the Demon Desert. Following a scheme from Shira, Goji's squad slipped past Team Guy while Shira's group snared the Konoha side. Once the Leaf teams seemed eliminated, the Suna genin regrouped, but Goji and his teammates balked at continuing to take orders from Shira and turned on his team to seize his scroll. Team Guy arrived and scattered them. Pursued afterward by Rock Lee, Goji and the others held him off with genjutsu and ranged strikes until Lee's allies and Shira's team came to the rescue. Beaten, the Suna-nin were startled when Shira asked that they be spared and offered his own scroll, admitting his earlier defeat; too proud to accept, Goji and his fellows instead handed over their scrolls to acknowledge the loss and set off to earn a fresh pair from other teams.
