History

His Hyūga blood grants him the Byakugan, the near-panoramic sight that lets him peer straight through solid barriers among its other uses. That vision earned its keep during the Fourth Shinobi World War, where he joined the Surprise Attack Division led by Kankurō. Once the unit reached hostile ground and made camp, they came across a wounded Muta Aburame; sensing something off, Hoheto switched on his Byakugan and spotted that Deidara had swapped the beetles inside Muta's jar for explosive clay. His warning gave Ittan just enough time to sink the ground beneath them and blunt the blast.

As the rival ambush squads collided, Hoheto and Tango reached Tokuma and Ranka the instant the two broke free of Sasori's puppet strings, and he carried Tokuma to Kiri for healing. Holding the rear guard afterward, he again caught Deidara's trick in time, alerting the group that Shin had likewise been rigged to explode. Later his division ran into reinforcements for the enemy platoon and, trying to withdraw, was caught in Ibuse's paralyzing poison mist; samurai of the Fifth Division hauled them to the medics. When the fighting wound down, Hoheto kept watch over Deidara and the other sealed foes as the reincarnation technique dissolved.
