Kanabun

Grey hair rises in short spikes above Kanabun's small, dark eyes. He layers a robe over a belted purple kimono; the robe's green upper and lower panels bracket a grimy yellow center, split by a wavy red band, and the same red edges its sleeves. Brown trousers and sandals round out what he wears.

Greed is his defining trait. Even a trivial disturbance in some backwater is enough for Kanabun to dispatch his men to lay bets on the clash between Tsukado and Katazu. A vicious streak shows too, for he will not accept a draw and orders his followers to cut down anyone who costs him his money. Yet when a scuffle turns against him, he and his crew flee in fright, spitting promises of payback.

Running a sizable band whose members all carry swords marks Kanabun as a capable boss, yet the outfit is still bested by a duo of swordsmen backed by a Konoha ninja, and Kanabun himself takes a pecking from the Condor. He and his men look on while Tsukado goes down to Katazu, the very man who had slain Kanabun's distant kin, Shikazo.

Taken with Katazu's swordsmanship, Kanabun hauls him back the following day for a rematch he expects to profit from. Once Katazu admits he never killed Shikazo and the bout falls apart, the gang tries to force a fresh round, only to be run off by the pair of swordsmen, by Mr. Ostrich, and by Team 7, Kanabun spitting that they will be sorry for it.
