Appearance

Because he was grown from Jiraiya, Koji mirrors the Sannin's features, though he wears the face of a man in his prime rather than the aging original, free of wrinkles and with straight hair instead of the trademark spikes. He is tall, his shoulder-length white hair bound into a topknot at the crown while the rest hangs loose. A neat beard traces his jaw, dark lines run from the corners of his eyes down toward his cheeks in a shape recalling the numeral two, and a small wart sits on the left of his nose. For much of his career a mask hid the upper portion of his face, and he draped himself in the black hooded robe with maroon trim favored by Kara. Once the mask broke he set it aside, and in the years after Boruto's departure he switched to a zippered jacket and pants in red and black beneath a long cloak, letting his hair fall freely.

Personality

An inscrutable figure, Koji carries himself with cold, plain-spoken directness and a mind locked onto its objectives. Whatever arrogance he projects, he consistently proves rational and sharp, reading a situation for its truth and gauging how events will unfold. His choices rest on hard logic rather than feeling, and he refuses to lose sight of the larger goal, which makes him dangerous, since he treats small sacrifices as acceptable costs against the final aim. He is not infallible, however, having failed to grasp that Isshiki had seen through his scheme from the start. His allegiance to Kara masked his real purpose of destroying Isshiki, a cover he maintained through cruel work such as gathering children to serve as vessels, most of whom died. Even so, he killed only when he judged it necessary, choosing to flee Kakashi rather than strike him down. He takes genuine pride in being a shinobi and accepts the role of a tool as part of that path. Having inherited some of Jiraiya's fondness for the Leaf, he grows wistful at thoughts of the village. After his gift of foresight awakened, he began acting with a sense of responsibility and free will that reached beyond the purpose written into him, though he never lost his willingness to sacrifice others when he deemed it the surest route to the future he wanted.

Abilities

As a copy of one of the Sannin whose body Amado reworked with Scientific Ninja Tools and Shibai Otsutsuki's cells, Koji is reckoned a monstrous talent. He crushed one of Konoha's foremost jonin with ease, slew his fellow Inner Victor, felt sure he could handle Delta, and was strong enough to kill the weakened Jigen and trade blows with Isshiki himself. He moves with startling speed and stealth, excels at close combat, and endures brutal punishment, surviving the loss of an arm and the ruin of his legs while still summoning a toad to withdraw. His chakra control lets him form techniques one-handed even when maimed, and his reserves stretch far enough to sustain Sage Mode.

His ninjutsu draws on the Leaf's arsenal at a level surpassing his template. He wields the Rasengan and its Ultra-Big Ball form, splits into shadow clones and swaps places with them to shake pursuit, and turns his own hair into weapons of attack and defense. Toads are central to his craft: tiny ones scout and relay his techniques, giant ones crush his targets, and he can even call up naturally burning flames through elaborate summoning formulae, using reverse summoning to whisk himself or others across great distances. He commands fuinjutsu that pins foes inside erected pillars, produces smoke and sprays sticky oil, and handles both Fire and Earth Release, the former including the ever-burning True Fire of Samadhi. Through Yin Release genjutsu he projects his image to speak from afar or mask an entire area, and his Sage Mode grants him instant, perfectly balanced access to natural energy.

His defining actions flow from these gifts. He engineered Jigen's death by luring him into chakra-free flames, an act that forced the final stage of Kama and revived an unstable Isshiki, against whom Koji fought until his body was shattered and he escaped inside the Steam Toad. In that moment the shinjutsu Ten Directions awakened within him, letting him glimpse branching futures, deduce that Omnipotence had rewritten the world's memories, and later mentor Boruto by teaching him skills drawn from potential timelines, all while steering events in the war against the God Trees.
