Makino

In Naruto, Makino is the movie director behind the films starring Yukie Fujikaze. Passionate to the point of obsession, he chases realism on set and seizes the chance to shoot in the Land of Snow once the production heads there.

Makino was directing a film starring Yukie Fujikaze when Team Kakashi was hired to escort the production to the Land of Snow. He was uneasy at the time because Yukie kept bolting from the shoot ever since the plan was announced.

Age shows on Makino, whose hair has gone grey above small, squinting eyes framed by blue-tinted glasses. A brown hat stays with him throughout, and once the crew reaches the Land of Snow he switches to a long orange coat with brown gloves.

Once Makino learns that Yukie Fujikaze is truly Koyuki Kazahana, a princess of the Land of Snow, he spots the rare prospect of filming with genuine royalty. His crew go on to capture the action sequences, with Team Kakashi drawn into the shots.

Work consumes most of Makino's attention, and he can turn quite grave about it, yet the smallest spark of excitement sends him shouting and bounding around. Underneath the intensity he is a warm-hearted man who puts his faith in hard effort and stories that end well.
