Metal Lee

Character

Appearance

Anyone who knows Rock Lee will recognise his son at a glance. Metal shares the glossy black bowl-cut, the dark eyes, and the famously thick brows, though his own gaze is markedly sharper. He wears the family uniform too: a green jumpsuit paired with orange leg warmers, a scarf, and bandaging wound over his hands. After reaching genin rank he takes to tying his forehead protector around his belt.

Personality

Polite and honourable to a fault, Metal even speaks without contractions, a formality he absorbed from his father and from Might Guy, both of whom he deeply admires. He shares their burning, tireless drive, throwing himself into Rock Lee's punishing daily training. His great weakness is his nerves: a large audience can freeze him completely, robbing him of the ability to move or perform. Over time he learns to work through the anxiety rather than be ruled by it, most memorably when he sheds his lucky trinkets, fights his father before a jeering crowd, and opens the first of the Eight Gates to win. He is also surprisingly well-read, able to discuss the five Kage in detail while remaining oblivious to just how powerful Naruto really is.

Abilities

Metal's craft is Strong Fist taijutsu, and when his insecurities stay out of the way he lives up to a reputation as a prodigy even inside his taijutsu-obsessed clan. His stamina lets him match his father's brutal regimens, and his strength is considerable, enough to shatter rock with his fists and land ferocious kicks; he even fights Shinki to a near draw, losing only on a technicality. In the anime, his anxiety, once harnessed, drives an erratic, Drunken-Fist-like style effective enough to pressure Rock Lee himself. Unlike his father, Metal can push chakra outside his body and perform ninjutsu, which lets him contribute to Cooperation Ninjutsu and fuinjutsu such as the String Light Formation that binds an enemy's movements. He is a sharp shurikenjutsu user able to strike from blind angles, and away from the battlefield he has picked up both mechanical repair, learned from Denki, and enough sewing to patch his own clothes.
