Momoshiki Otsutsuki was a noble of the Otsutsuki main family who came to Earth hunting Kaguya's God Tree and the Nine-Tails' chakra. Slain by Boruto Uzumaki, he branded the boy with a Kama, letting his spirit endure inside his own killer.
Momoshiki carried the bearing of nobility, with pale skin, delicate features, and eyebrows trimmed short as a mark of his rank. His pale-blue hair hung in a long ponytail split down the middle in a zig-zag, and a pair of flat, curved horns rose from his head like a bull's. He dressed in aristocratic robes: a white kariginu hunting garment, loose trousers, tengu-geta sandals, a see-through hagoromo veil, and a single black glove on his left hand cut open at the palm to expose a red Rinnegan.
Absorbing Kinshiki reshaped him. In the manga and its anime adaptation, his body turned lithe and laced with radiating black sunburst markings, his horns swelled and curled backward, claws and fangs emerged, and every one of his eyes, including a third Rinnegan on his brow, blazed gold. The movie handled the change differently, giving him dark-red skin and a bulkier frame. As a lingering spirit he appears barefoot with his hair loose and his horns dulled to a splintered grey, and after Boruto snapped one off, his right horn was left the shorter of the two.
Ordinarily Momoshiki came across as calm, measured, and calculating, but a streak of cruelty ran beneath the surface, and he laughed at terrified civilians while he rained destruction on Konoha. A towering sense of superiority coloured everything he did; he dismissed ordinary people as lowly beings and kept his distance even from his own kin. For all his devotion to the Otsutsuki goal of godhood, he despised effort, preferring to steal and reuse other ninja's techniques rather than train, which left his taijutsu weak.
That laziness bred arrogance and recklessness in battle, since he trusted his stolen power and his knack for topping up chakra from fruit, pills, and absorbed attacks rather than any real strategy. Even so, he was a shrewd schemer, quick to adapt and to prey on an opponent's insecurities, and he knew his clan's history inside out. Faced with a genuine threat, he could turn nervous and even cowardly. Naruto and Sasuke first likened his mindset to Sasuke's old obsession with revenge, but after watching him devour his own foster father, Naruto judged him no man at all, only a monster. Reduced to a spirit trapped inside Boruto, he grew weary of his half-existence, taunting the boy while ultimately longing for Boruto's death so that his own soul might finally be released.
As an Otsutsuki noble, Momoshiki ranked among the most dangerous foes the shinobi world ever faced. Sasuke judged him and Kinshiki a greater threat than Kaguya herself, and Momoshiki claimed he could have beaten her alone. He was said to have wiped out an entire world and its people, and he could trade blows with several Kage at once and overpower a perfect jinchuriki like Killer B. His signature power lay in the pair of Rinnegan set into his palms: the right absorbed any chakra-based technique thrown at him, while the left fired it back with far greater force, and he could even convert victims into pills that restored his youth and handed him their abilities. He also bore the Byakugan in both eyes, granting telescopic and near-panoramic sight along with fragmentary glimpses of the future, though never his own fate. Through the Rinnegan he could wield all five elemental natures at once, conjuring giant creatures of fire, earth, and more.
His disdain for hard work left his hand-to-hand fighting thin until he consumed his foster father Kinshiki as a chakra fruit, a change that sent his physical power soaring and let him fell four Kage in single blows. Momoshiki and Kinshiki struck Konoha during the Chunin Exams, kicking Naruto clear of the arena before seizing him and dragging him to another dimension to drain the Nine-Tails' chakra. Rescued by Sasuke, Boruto, and the Kage, Naruto rejoined the fight, and it was Boruto's Parent and Child Rasengan, colliding with Momoshiki's own spiralling attack, that finally destroyed him. In his last moments he branded Boruto with a Kama and warned that the boy's blue eyes would one day cost him everything.
That mark let his spirit persist. Manifesting through Boruto's body, Momoshiki obliterated the Kara member Boro with an Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan, and during the war against Isshiki he seized control long enough to plunge a kunai into Sasuke's eye and destroy his Rinnegan. When Kawaki later struck him down with no vessel left to reincarnate into, Momoshiki rewrote the unfinished data of the Kama to resurrect Boruto's body, sacrificing his own return in the process. Bound thereafter to Boruto as a fading consciousness, he eventually struck a bargain, agreeing to lend the boy his full power against the Human God Trees in exchange for finally claiming his body.
