Ranka

A bandanna-style Konoha forehead protector hides most of Ranka's brown hair. A neat, pointed goatee sits below narrow, almost permanently squinted eyes, and he wears the standard uniform of a Konoha shinobi.

Protective of his comrades, Ranka dislikes seeing them take needless risks. His feelings for Anko Mitarashi ran deep enough that he engineered a transfer to the Infiltration and Reconnaissance Party simply to serve at her side. The years he spent handling autopsies for the Torture and Interrogation Force point to a sharp, analytical mind backed by genuine medical knowledge.

In the anime, Ranka joins Tokuma Hyuga and Muta Aburame to relieve Sai and Yamato, who had been helping Anko hunt for Kabuto Yakushi through one of Orochimaru's old hideouts. Examining three slain Takigakure shinobi, he confirms Kabuto as the killer and wonders whether the masked man in their intel could be the rumored Madara Uchiha. The trail leads the group to the Akatsuki base, where they uncover Tobi's vast White Zetsu Army.

Anko sends the team to report while she digs deeper, and Chukichi and Deidara soon give chase. Ranka barely survives the reincarnated foes, only for Sasori to seize his body along with Tokuma's and wield the pair as human puppets against the Surprise Attack Division. Omoi finally frees him by cutting the chakra threads, and Kiri whisks him away to be healed.
