Shino Aburame is a shinobi of Konohagakure's Aburame clan and a member of Team Kurenai. Quiet and often unsettling to those around him, he wields his clan's insect techniques with cold precision, and in time becomes a jonin and an Academy teacher.
Shino dresses in the trademark manner of his clan, hiding his eyes behind small round shades above a sea-green, high-collared coat. Fair-skinned and the tallest of his graduating class, he keeps his dark, unruly brown hair and equally dark eyes almost always concealed, so thoroughly that even his teammates rarely glimpse what lies behind the glasses.
In Part II his coat lengthens to the knees and gains a hood and a shoulder satchel that make him harder to recognize, and he adds a flak jacket beneath it during the war. Later years bring a grey shirt and trousers under a hooded light-grey jacket and a bandanna-style forehead protector. As a grown man he wears a flak jacket bearing two insect emblems at the collar over a full bodysuit, ties his hair into a topknot, and switches between an on-duty visor that wraps his head and ordinary sunglasses off the clock.
Reserved and hard to read, Shino has been a quiet, solitary presence since childhood, given to blunt, matter-of-fact statements and rarely cracking a smile in his younger years. He can be surprisingly stubborn about a grudge, still holding it against Naruto for not recognizing him when Part II began, and he is aware enough of his own oddness to menace anyone who catches him in a rare display of emotion. Adulthood mellows him, and he grows willing to laugh and relax in company.
His lifelong fascination with insects, which colors even his manner of speaking, has earned him a reputation as creepy, and people tend to tire of his company, yet beneath it runs a fierce loyalty to his teammates and a sharp instinct for when something is wrong with them. He took it upon himself to sharpen his teamwork with Kiba and Hinata and became one of the few, alongside Naruto, to voice open faith in Hinata's abilities.
Confident and genuinely fond of a good fight, he bristles at being denied a worthy opponent, though the anime reveals a rattled side that panics at creatures which prey on insects. As a teacher he proves deeply caring, standing by the troubled Sumire Kakei even after her actions harmed many.
Shino showed promise early enough to catch the eye of the exacting Danzo. As a genin he dispatched Zaku Abumi with ease and fought the puppeteer Kankuro to a standstill, rose to chunin during the time-skip, and in the Fourth Shinobi World War brought down several jonin-level White Zetsu as well as a reincarnated Torune Aburame.
His signature strength is the bond every Aburame shares with the kikaichu, a colony seeded into his body at birth that feeds on his chakra in exchange for obedience; in combat he pens an enemy in with the swarm and drains them dry once escape is impossible, and in the anime he can even redirect the stolen chakra into an ally. He can raise insect duplicates of himself that reknit when struck, trap foes in a sphere of bugs, and deploy the flesh-eating kidaichu, whose careful feeding demands fine chakra control. His insects double as spies, tracking targets by scent and scrambling sensor-type enemies with false chakra signals, and he can hasten their growth or, thanks to bugs crossbred with Torune's rinkaichu, mimic their potent toxins or brew antibodies against them.
Beyond the swarm he is a capable shuriken user able to bend his throws in flight, commands Earth, Fire, and Yang natures, and honed his taijutsu enough to overpower a jonin. Above all he fights with his head, staying several moves ahead like Shikamaru and reading an opponent's patterns so keenly that his years as an Academy instructor let him anticipate almost any tactic.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
