Shishio

Shishio wears his long, dark violet hair falling across the front of his face in three separate lengths, gathered behind into a short ponytail. His slanted eyes are brown, his cheeks drawn and hollow. He dresses in a blue scarf over a light green shirt and darker green trousers, with his Suna forehead protector in deep blue.

As a sensor, Shishio can lay a detection seal on the ground that works like a radar, sweeping a wide area to pinpoint anyone nearby, and he can raise barriers that scramble an enemy's own sensing. He is also adept with sand, shaping it into lion forms and even cloaking himself and his teammates from sight.

Shishio and his cell traveled to Konohagakure for the Chūnin Exams, cleared the written first phase, and survived a qualifying race to Sunagakure that thinned the field to thirty teams. In the desert stage he used his sensing seal to locate Team Asuma. When the Konoha genin refused to trade their scroll, a fight broke out; Shishio countered Ino Yamanaka's opening strike and knocked her down, then masked his teammates from view, though Ino's own sensory skill led her team through the cover and Shishio's group was beaten.

With no hard feelings afterward, the medic Ameno tended everyone. The exams were called off early amid trouble in the second stage, and Gaara ruled that each participant would be judged by their home village for possible promotion.
