Taruto is a pastry chef in Konohagakure whose long friendship with a fellow cook, Ohagi, fractures when he is put in charge of the new city's fireworks show. Their feud simmers until Boruto and Kakashi step in, and the two old friends reconcile in time to see their grandchildren wed.
A resident of Konohagakure's new city, Taruto shares a long friendship with Ohagi, who lives in the old town. The two join in the old town's festival fireworks and travel together over the years, and because both are cooks they combine their specialties to invent a dango shortcake. Trouble begins when the new city launches a fireworks display of its own and hands Taruto responsibility for it, opening a rift between the former friends.
Taruto is shown to be proud of his craft and competitive about it, letting the fireworks assignment drive a wedge between himself and a lifelong friend. He is not beyond reconciliation, however, and once the rivalry loses its heat he readily mends the relationship for the sake of their families.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

The bickering between Taruto's new-city crowd and Ohagi's old-town neighbours catches Boruto's eye, and he tries to separate them. When Boruto and Kakashi later stop by Taruto's shop, Kakashi pieces together the old friendship from a torn photograph and blacked-out menu items, prompting Taruto to ask them to leave. Boruto brings both camps together and has them share the dango shortcake as a peace offering, but it fails to land. Kakashi then proposes settling the matter with a fireworks contest, the winner earning charge of the display, and Taruto accepts. On the night, Kakashi secretly swaps the two sides' fireworks, so the new-city residents belittle their own work and lose their appetite for the feud. His grandson Sabure presses him to patch things up so that he and Yubeshi can marry, and Taruto and Ohagi finally reconcile and attend their grandchildren's wedding.
