The leader of Team Goji is a proud Sunagakure genin who commands a squad of fellow ninja through the joint Chunin Exams. He blends heavy trap-laying, wind-and-yin illusions, and bladed gauntlets, and his prickly history with Gaara keeps him at odds with the idealistic Shira.
Towering and heavily built, the leader of Team Goji goes bald with dark eyes and bares his chest in nearly every appearance. A turban sits atop his head, while a mask shaped like dinosaur fangs guards the lower half of his face. Purple tattoos of thick, tapering lines run across his scalp and shoulders. Over the exposed torso he throws a short dark poncho, and he arms his hands with bladed gloves. Weapon pouches hang from the belt of his trousers, and simple sandals over bandaged ankles complete the outfit.
Pride defines this shinobi, who bristles at taking orders from Shira and turns down anything resembling charity. Even so, he loses with grace and quickly refocuses on his aims. Level-headed by nature, he sizes up the odds honestly, recognizing that his six cannot beat six stronger foes. He harbors no warmth for Gaara, reminding Shira of the harm the man once caused and insisting that people do not truly change.
A capable commander, he directs not only his own team but a combined group of five, all of whom obey without question, whether told to quit the field or hand over a scroll. He reads opponents shrewdly and presses their weak points, as he did against Rock Lee, and he favors elaborate traps seeded with explosive tags, once tearing open crevices so wide that Lee could only cross them by opening the Eight Gates. His jutsu draw on both Wind and Yin, which he fuses into a dome of swirling sand that hems an enemy in; as the grains grind together they throw off charges that lock the trapped victim in an endless illusion of faceless attackers, leaving the target open to his allies' water bullets. Up close he slashes with the twin blades fixed to each glove and throws kunai with precision. During the joint Chunin Exams his squad reached the second stage, and after breaking with Shira over strategy he turned on the other Suna team to seize their scroll. Chased down by Rock Lee and eventually beaten alongside his allies, he refused Shira's offer of a spare scroll and instead surrendered his own, resolving to earn fresh heaven and earth scrolls the honest way.
