Tsunami is a resident of the Land of Waves, daughter of the bridge-builder Tazuna and mother to Inari. Gentle by nature but fierce when her family is threatened, she stands alongside her neighbours during the struggle against the tyrant Gato.

Appearance

She wears her long, dark hair, coloured black in the manga and blue in the anime, loose down her back. Her top is a short-sleeved green shirt, its collar and cuffs trimmed in a darker shade, worn above a long, dark green skirt. The anime shifts several of these colours, tinting the shirt pink and the skirt blue.

History

Tsunami's first husband died soon after Inari was born, and she later welcomed Kaiza into her home as a father figure for the boy, only for his death to break her along with the rest of the town. She first appears when Tazuna brings Team 7 back to her house, helping tend to Kakashi after his clash with Zabuza. Kidnapped by Gato's men, she holds them off with her threat of suicide until Naruto arrives to rescue her and Inari. Though she tries to keep Inari away from the fighting at the bridge, seeing his courage echo Kaiza's changes her mind, and she takes her place beside him and the villagers for their stand.
