Release History

Tomy publishes Naruto: Ninja Council 2 in Japan on April 29, 2004, and D3 Publisher follows with a North American release on October 4, 2006. A European Game Boy Advance release reaches PAL territories in 2006 as well, bringing the title to the region roughly two years after Japan. This PAL Game Boy Advance release is a separate product from Naruto: Ninja Council 2 European Version, a same named but unrelated Nintendo DS game that Tomy releases in Japan in 2005 under Europe's differing numbering scheme for the Ninja Council series.

Gameplay

Players fight through 2D side-scrolling stages as Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, or Sakura Haruno, with Rock Lee unlockable after completion. Each fighter, aside from Lee, commands three distinct jutsu sets triggered through button combinations, and the left trigger swaps between characters who keep separate health bars but share healing items. Movement includes a double jump and a teleport used to reach hidden areas, while dedicated speed stages task players with collecting leaf symbols before time runs out. A Game Boy Advance Link Cable unlocks two player Versus and Co-Op modes.

Story

The campaign adapts anime episodes 22 through 80, following Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura as they attempt to pass the Chunin Exam, with cutscenes delivered through character portraits and text boxes rather than voice acting. An original mission not drawn from the anime has the team chasing down Orochimaru after he steals a forbidden scroll.
