Gameplay

Ultimate Ninja 2 keeps the arena fighting mechanics of the first game but widens the roster to 31 characters in Japan, including several fighters who had previously been support only or cutscene exclusive. Every character can now serve as a support fighter, and every character gained access to special battle modes, features that had been limited in the original game.

Story & Modes

The arcade style story of the first game is replaced with an RPG influenced mode that loosely follows anime events up through episode 96, plus an original filler arc built around a sealing technique created by Orochimaru. A new Ultimate Road mode lets players replay pivotal moments from the Naruto story outside the main campaign. The Japanese release also added a Doto Kazahana stage and character tied to the Naruto film Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow.
