A wartime detail assembled to keep the feudal lords out of Akatsuki's grasp during the great conflict. Led by Mei Terumī, the squad relied on constant movement and hidden traps to stay one step ahead of the enemy sent to abduct their charges.
Their defense hinged on unpredictability. Rather than settle the daimyō in one location, the team shuffled them between safe houses at irregular hours so the lords were never pinned down for long, and each abandoned station was seeded with waiting shinobi and traps to snare would-be attackers. Black Zetsu had been dispatched to capture the daimyō as leverage, hoping to pry the Eight-Tails and Nine-Tailed Demon Fox out of hiding. His first strike hit a decoy setup of puppets molded to resemble the lords, and when he located them again he ran straight into Mei and her fighters. Even after both tailed beasts had surfaced, Zetsu kept battling the squad, aiming to keep them cut off from the rest of the Alliance and its forces divided. Backup eventually arrived in the form of one of Naruto's shadow clones, and Chōjūrō ultimately put Black Zetsu down.
Mei Terumī commanded the detail, directing its shifting defenses against Black Zetsu. Chōjūrō fought among the ranks and delivered the blow that finally neutralized the enemy. In the manga version, the squad drew solely on shinobi from Konoha and Kiri.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
