Suna Council

The Suna Council functions as a governing panel meant to support the Kazekage and steer Sunagakure toward choices that serve the village and everyone living in it. Its ranks are thought to number around twelve, with the elders who fill them commonly called Seniors. They convene inside the Kazekage's Office, in the chamber lined with statues honoring every Kazekage who has held the seat.

Beyond offering counsel, the council carries real weight over how the Sand is run. That influence became a fault line when Tōjūrō reached for the open head seat while quietly scheming to bring down the Kazekage clan entirely. His attempted coup was uncovered, and the fallout swept up the many elders who had backed him. Those sympathizers and fellow conspirators were exposed, taken into custody, and stripped from the council, purging its ranks of the rebellion.

Ebizō presided over the council until failing health forced him to give up the head position, leaving the vacancy Tōjūrō later tried to claim. Chiyo, Ebizō's sibling, was at one time counted among the members alongside her brother. Baki ranks as a senior figure within the body, with others such as Yūra treated as beneath him, though Yūra was in truth answering to Sasori all along.
