Three Sand Siblings

The three are the offspring of the man who once held Sunagakure's highest office, the Fourth Kazekage, and they grew up carrying the reputation of prodigies. Their homeland's brutal instruction shaped each of them into a specialist who dominates from a distance. Baki, a jōnin, was placed in charge of the squad as its commander. Though presented in public as candidates hoping to earn a promotion, that appearance masked a darker purpose behind their first major outing abroad.

The siblings drew wider notice when they entered the examination staged in Konoha, where their true assignment was to lie in wait for the coordinated strike later remembered as the Konoha Crush. After that failed invasion first soured relations and then mended them, the three were dispatched to reinforce the squad chasing after Sasuke, a gesture that helped cement the fresh alliance between the two villages. An anime storyline sent them hunting a band who had abducted Gaara's pupil Matsuri, pitting Temari against Kujaku, Kankurō against Ryūgan, and Gaara against Suiko; all three neared death before Naruto and the Konoha genin arrived to repay the earlier favour. In the years that followed each of them climbed in rank, with Gaara installed as Kazekage while his siblings took up jōnin duties, Kankurō overseeing security and Temari serving as a diplomat.

Gaara, the youngest, once bore the One-Tail and ultimately governed the Sand as its leader. Kankurō, the puppet-wielding middle child, doubled as his brother's bodyguard and stood watch at the Five Kage Summit in that role. Temari, the eldest and a wind specialist, later married Shikamaru Nara of Konoha, relocated to his village, and had a son named Shikadai. In the closing chapter her two brothers stopped by to see her and the boy before heading off to another gathering of the Kage.
