Hiromu Arakawa is the Japanese manga artist who created Fullmetal Alchemist, the story adapted into the Bones-produced Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime.
Arakawa wrote and drew the original Fullmetal Alchemist manga from 2001 to 2010, building the story of the Elric brothers' quest for the Philosopher's Stone that both the 2003 anime and the more faithful 2009 Brotherhood adaptation are based on. Her background growing up on a farm in Hokkaido is frequently credited for the series' grounded, working-class approach to its fantasy setting.
