Ganju's Gang

Four regulars ride at Ganju's side, each paired with a boar of his own. Kenji Yamashita, nicknamed Top, is the blond one with a tuft of hair over his brow and ever-present sunglasses, mounted on the violet-mohawked Mindy. Mitsuru Ishino, called Fever, sports teardrop eyebrows and a towering afro pinned up by a purple headband, riding Sonny. Sadatomo Saionji, dubbed Dumbbell, is the bald, sunken-eyed bruiser in a drab beige shirt whose boar Connie wears a single strapped-on horn. Taichi Miyamoto, or Hawk, is the thin one in a short pink heart-print kimono with dark green hair combed over his right eye, and he keeps a large alarm clock strapped to his back.

Loyalty to Ganju binds the group together, though each man carries a comic flaw. Top loses every fistfight and argument he stumbles into; Fever has no sense of rhythm whatsoever; Dumbbell looks the most threatening of the bunch yet has a soft touch with small animals; and Hawk, Ganju's number-one follower and resident cook, exists partly to sound his alarm and drag the boss home by curfew. Faced with real danger they panic easily and bolt as a pack.

During the Soul Society arc they wade into Ganju's street brawl with Ichigo and block Uryū, Sado, and Orihime with their boars, then scatter in alarm the moment Hawk's curfew clock rings. Hawk later cooks for Ganju and the Ryoka, and the whole gang is moved to tears by their boss's speech before he departs for the Seireitei. In the anime-only Bount arc, Hawk and Fever slip out of a Kusajishi casino after spotting Jin Kariya recruiting locals, report to Kūkaku, and get punished for lying about why they were there, while the rest of the crew trails Ganju through the Rukongai forests.
