History
Central Command sends Gärtner to Briggs to order Major General Armstrong back to the capital, where she is to answer for the disappearance of Lieutenant General Raven. With Armstrong away, Gärtner is handed full command of Fort Briggs, tasked with helping produce a blood crest feeding the Nationwide Transmutation Circle, but the resolve of the Briggs troops proves too much for him. He appears once more in Chapter 84, standing in as the Briggs Army's representative to greet Grumman for a long-awaited joint exercise with the Eastern forces. His fate after the Promised Day is never confirmed, though he may have been arrested as a conspirator alongside the rest of the Senior Staff.
