Gameplay

The core loop centers on quests, story based stages where the player's team of collected characters knocks out enemy fighters. Characters, called statues, are pulled through a gacha system using diamond coins, and each is ranked on a five star scale. Battles draw on the series' Stand abilities and Hamon breathing techniques, and limited time event quests offer extra rewards on top of the main story content.

Scope

At launch the game covered the first five arcs of the anime, Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, Stardust Crusaders, Diamond Is Unbreakable, and Vento Aureo. A major update on September 22, 2018 renamed the game Diamond Records Reversal, folded in Golden Wind content to line up with that anime's premiere, and replaced the original beat em up mob battles with a turn based Tactical Battle system.

Release

Diamond Records launched in Japan on February 20, 2017 for iOS and Android and quickly built a following, passing two million registered accounts by March 22 of that year. 4Gamer praised its character and environment art as rich for a mobile title. Bandai Namco announced on September 9, 2019 that the game would end service, and it shut down on November 18, 2019.
