Gameplay

Rather than a head to head fighter, Stardust Shooters is a medal shooting action game: each character is represented by a Striker Medal with its own health, stats, and a unique Command Skill, and players flick or shoot these medals at enemy medals to deal damage. Chaining hits builds combos that trigger flashier attacks, and assembling a team means balancing which characters' medals complement each other in a fight.

Premise

Scenario quests let players replay scenes from the anime, and the game launched covering the first three parts of the story, Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, and Stardust Crusaders, positioning it as a companion piece to the Stardust Crusaders anime airing around the same time. The content grew afterward, adding Diamond is Unbreakable in December 2015 and Vento Aureo in September 2018.

Release

Developed by Drecom for Bandai Namco Entertainment, the game went live on Android on March 10, 2014, with an iOS version following four days later, and it proved popular early on, passing four million downloads within about four months. An international version launched through the LINE GAME platform on May 16, 2016, offering English, Traditional Chinese, and Thai in several Southeast Asian markets before shutting down in mid 2017. The original Japanese service kept running until it was officially closed on April 13, 2021.
