Gameplay

Story missions are now separated from a standalone mission mode, and co-op partner characters keep their own health and chakra bars instead of disappearing after a short window as in the first game. Completing missions, including survival challenges, unlocks additional playable characters such as Sasuke Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, Kisame, and Temari.

The plot picks up after the Sasuke Retrieval arc, with Shikamaru newly promoted to Chunin and the Sand siblings appearing in their post retrieval arc designs. The central threat is the Shirogane Clan, whose plan to revive the forbidden Master Puppet would let them rule over the Five Ninja Nations.

Cavia and Racjin developed the game, with Namco Bandai Games publishing it. It launched in Japan on November 16, 2006, in North America on September 4, 2007, and in Europe on March 7, 2008. Critical reception was middling, landing around 52 out of 100 on Metacritic.
