Combat blends turn based commands with action style timing in what Bandai Namco called Grand Tactical Battles; characters level up and unlock stronger attacks as the story advances through familiar manga chapters presented with new Toei Animation cutscenes.

Story and Setting

The game adapts roughly the first half of the One Piece story, from Luffy's departure from Foosha Village through the war at Marineford, using manga panel style narration between action sequences rather than an original plot.

Release and Reception

The PSP version launched in Japan in December 2012, followed by a 3DS version in August 2013 that reached Europe and North America by early 2014, one of the series' rare Western releases at the time. Reviews were largely unfavorable, with Metacritic scoring the Western 3DS release around 42, though strong Japanese sales reportedly encouraged Namco Bandai toward further One Piece titles abroad.
