Gameplay

The Wii entry is an action-adventure at heart. Players roam an island solving puzzles and gathering materials so Franky and Usopp can craft tools that open new routes, while fishing and bug catching double as ways to break the seals blocking progress. A separate battle mode offers versus play and a survival run against many opponents, drawing on a cast of more than forty characters.

Story and Setting

The plot is original to the game rather than a straight adaptation. After Luffy recovers a jewel, the Straw Hats land on a mysterious island, uncover seals meant to contain a dangerous creature, and end up helping the island's guardian, Popora. The material leans on elements of the series up to the Water 7 arc.

Ganbarion develops the title and Namco Bandai Games publishes it. It is the first seventh-generation One Piece game and the first localized for North America after FUNimation takes the license, reaching Japan on April 26, 2007, and North America on January 22, 2008. Reviews are mixed, landing at 67 on Metacritic.
