Gameplay

Matches split players between ghouls and CCG investigators in asymmetric, survival-style combat rather than a symmetrical fighter setup. Premise

The game draws its cast and setting from both Sui Ishida's original Tokyo Ghoul manga and its sequel Tokyo Ghoul:re, letting players step into major roles from either side of the ghoul-investigator conflict across the two storylines.

Reception

Bandai Namco pushes the game's original late-2018 release back to fix quality issues, then launches it for PS4 in Japan on November 14, 2019, with a worldwide PS4 and Windows release the next day. Critics are split, and Metacritic settles on a 58/100 for the PS4 version. First-week physical sales in Japan come in around 4,500 copies, good for 15th place, and the game drops out of Famitsu's top 30 by its second week.
