No Time to Strike Out centers on Sugino, a baseball hopeful stuck in Class 3-E who tries to snipe Korosensei with a doctored pitch. What starts as a failed hit turns into a lesson in mechanics and motivation from the very target he means to kill.
Every morning Korosensei relaxes behind the old school building with a drink and a foreign newspaper, and Sugino uses that routine to strike. Loading anti-teacher pellets into a baseball so his throw makes no gunshot sound, he hurls it at the creature's head, only to find Korosensei already standing behind him. In the ball's brief flight the teacher had sprinted into the equipment shed, straightened a crooked sign, and caught the pitch with a glove. Later he departs for New York to take in a game, and Karasuma reminds the class that their unmatched teacher can only be brought down by them.
Sitting alone afterward, Sugino is joined by Korosensei, who praises his throw yet is brushed off by the discouraged boy. Nagisa recalls that poor grades had gotten Sugino banned from club activity and steered him into 3-E. As Korosensei starts to offer pointers, Nagisa arrives to find the teacher throttling Sugino with a tentacle, supposedly to read the boy's build.
Korosensei explains that Sugino's form resembles the major-league pitcher Arita, whom he flew off to inspect in person, producing a newspaper photo of the athlete wrapped in tentacles alongside a furious autograph. He judges that Sugino's shoulder cannot copy Arita's fastball, but his supple elbow and wrist could one day surpass him through training, and he tells the boy to invent his own way to assassinate. He admits he crossed the ocean purely to coach Sugino, adding that he took the teaching post to honor a promise. Working with the advice, Sugino masters a changing-speed pitch that even Nagisa cannot catch, and the two come to enjoy their strange teacher.
The nineteen page second chapter appeared in 2012 issue 32 of the magazine on July 9 and sits in the first volume, Assassination Time. Its Japanese title Yakyu no jikan means No Time to Strike Out. It follows Killing Time in Homeroom and leads into The Perfect Time to Help Out.
