Brazo Derecha de Gigante

Character

Brazo Derecha de Gigante, the Right Arm of the Giant, is the armored right limb that channels Yasutora Sado's Fullbring. Once mistaken for latent spiritual power, it is truly rooted in the Hollow-tinged energy of his skin, and in its finished form it becomes a shield built to guard rather than to strike.

Appearance

Activated, the right arm sheathes itself in a liquid that hardens into plating. In its completed shape the shoulder guard sharpens to a point and stretches taller than Sado himself, keeping its black base while the magenta accents brighten, the patterning grows more elaborate, and the white fades away entirely. The limb's truest configuration is a defensive one: the whole arm up to the shoulder becomes a shield running well past the hand, marked with that same ornate design, a row of Hollow-like fangs at its heart, and a rose or skull-like motif toward the tip. The winged shoulder spur gives way to a six-sided plate that armors everything from the wrist upward.

Abilities

Its defining strike is El Directo, unlocked alongside the completed form: the vent on the shoulder guard splits open, gathers spiritual energy like the exhaust of an engine, and looses a large blast that Sado can either channel through his strikes or send downrange as a focused shot. In its genuine form the arm hits hard enough to hurl a former Espada through a wall, and it shrugs off punishment with equal ease, blocking blows from that same caliber of foe without buckling. Sado frames the limb as carrying the spirit of his grandfather, whose lesson to shield others is why this arm's strength is grounded in defense.

History

For a long stretch the power was mistaken for dormant spiritual strength drawn out by repeated contact with Ichigo Kurosaki, but it is in fact a manifestation of Fullbring, awakened, in Aizen's account, when the Hōgyoku answered Sado's despair over his own weakness. Descending into Hueco Mundo stirred the energy inside him, and a savage beating from Gantenbainne finally settled it, letting the power spread from the single right arm to both while feeling far closer to a Hollow than to any Shinigami or Quincy. Sado credits the pride planted in him by Oscar Joaquín de la Rosa for that first awakening, names the skin of his arms as the object his Fullbring keys upon, and could at first summon it only out of a need to protect, until training under Yoruichi Shihōin taught him to call it up whenever he chose.
