Enma Kōrogi is the Bankai of Kaname Tōsen and the final form of his Zanpakutō, Suzumushi. Rather than reshape the sword, it raises a vast black dome that strips nearly every sense from anyone caught inside, leaving only touch.
Formally titled Suzumushi Tsuishiki: Enma Kōrogi, this is the Bankai wielded by the blind captain Kaname Tōsen. It builds on his Zanpakutō Suzumushi, whose Shikai already blasts foes senseless with a piercing tone. Where the sword itself barely changes, the Bankai's true weapon is the enormous void it conjures around its master.
Tōsen keeps Suzumushi in its ordinary katana shape, minus the little ring, then presses his free palm to the ring on the guard. It begins to turn, bleeding spiritual energy as it widens until it can circle his whole body, and then it divides into ten matching rings around him. One swing scatters those rings outward to stake out a wide perimeter, each inscribed with its own character, among them Skeleton, Blood, Scatter, and Inflamed. From the rings a darkness wells up and swells into a great black dome, planted on the ground and centered on Tōsen.
Inside that dome, Tōsen imposes what he calls Mumyō, a total blackout of the senses. Spiritual awareness, sight, hearing, and smell all vanish, and a trapped opponent is left with touch alone. The dome exists apart from the sword, so Tōsen can still swing the sealed Suzumushi as a weapon within it, though he forfeits the blade's other tricks while doing so. The technique has one clear gap: anyone gripping Suzumushi's hilt is spared the effect, so a foe who manages to seize the sword regains everything. The void persists only while Tōsen actively maintains it, and a grave injury to him rips it apart.
