Ebizō

Age shows plainly on Ebizō, whose eyes droop so heavily they seem almost absent, and whose exceptionally long brows drape down either side of his face. A turban winds about his head, and he wears Sunagakure's traditional dress, a loose, dark garment finished with a poncho-like upper layer.

Where his sister could be impulsive, Ebizō stays composed, measured, and outwardly unbothered, thinking his way through problems with a sharp, analytical eye. When the Akatsuki seized Gaara and panic swept Suna, he pressed Temari and the others to hold their nerve rather than charge blindly into danger. He shared Chiyo's conviction that a village ought to be strong enough to fend for itself instead of leaning on past generations or outside help, and he took the Sand's helplessness against Kankurō's poisoning as a hard disappointment. A streak of optimism runs beneath the reserve, though, and when Sakura Haruno healed Kankurō he gently reminded Chiyo that the times had moved on from their youth. For all his detachment, he grieved genuinely at his sister's passing.

When Baki approached the siblings for aid after the Akatsuki carried Gaara off, Ebizō and Chiyo initially begged off, considering themselves apart from the wider world, until word that Sasori numbered among the abductors changed their minds. The sight of a poisoned Kankurō drew a remark from him about how far the village had slipped. He went on to join a support unit backing the Kazekage Rescue Team, and once the others tired he recounted the tale of the Third Kazekage's vanishing and the ruin blind panic had once brought upon Suna, urging everyone to keep their composure over Gaara. After the rescue and Chiyo's fatal sacrifice, he mourned her, half-hoping it was one more of her jokes even as he smiled at how serene she looked.

In later years he sat on the Suna Council and pushed for Gaara to marry, framing it less as politics than as amends for the burden of jinchūriki-hood placed on the young Kazekage long ago, and as his own health failed he gave up his seat at the Council's head.
