Miru

A youthful woman, Miru keeps her brown hair long and gazes out through dark eyes that show no pupils. Her clothing matches that of her fellow cipher operatives: a deep green kimono layered over an undershirt and cinched with a sash. Completing the look is the standard Mist headband every villager wears.

Kindness defines her. Where her squadmates bicker among themselves, Miru looks out for them, and her gentle streak reaches even toward outsiders. She invites Kisame to share a meal with the group, a gesture the others resist since they see him as nothing more than a hired guard. The anime softens her end further: after Kisame lays bare his true assignment, she holds no grudge, instead offering a faint, sorrowful smile at what a bleak existence he leads.

Miru signs on with the Cypher Division out of a wish to shield her comrades in the Mist. During one operation, Kisame Hoshigaki receives orders from his superior, Fuguki Suikazan, to protect the unit, and Miru alone tries to treat him as a friend. The mission collapses when Konoha operatives led by Ibiki Morino corner the group. Acting on Fuguki's command, Kisame cuts down the entire division so their intelligence cannot be pried loose under Ibiki's interrogation. Miru is the last to fall, using her dying moment to ask why he turned on them. In the animated telling she lives just long enough to hear his reasons, and pities him before the killing stroke.
