Appearance

A thick white beard swallows most of the old leader's face, and he cuts a tall, dignified figure crowned with white hair. Day to day he keeps to a plain beige kimono, matching trousers, and dark sandals. For battle he straps on a simple armour plate, ties on a dark headband, and takes up a sword, the militia's intricate tattoo marked on his right arm. After Kabuto raised him through the Impure World Reincarnation, a blindfold was forced over his eyes to hide the blackened sclera that would have betrayed his return from death.

Personality

Warmth defined him at home, where he happily spent hours with his grandchildren and delighted in hearing about whatever they loved. That gentleness came paired with a firm hand, and a single sharp word from him was enough to stop Leo from needling his sister. Above all he was courageous and fiercely devoted to his homeland, ready to raise a blade against anyone who came to threaten it.

History

For all his years the village head remained a formidable fighter, holding his ground against multiple reincarnated shinobi with sword and hand-to-hand skill, staying composed when surrounded and reading his opponents to trim away wasted motion, and striking hard enough to sever a limb in one blow. Shortly before Tonika Village fell, he talked with his granddaughter Miina about a tune she liked to hum and settled a quarrel between her and Leo over a drawing of their teacher Dokku. When Kabuto Yakushi's reanimated ninja descended on the settlement, he led the local militia against them, only to be unnerved on finding that his foes healed from every wound.

To keep the enemy from seizing the village treasure, he entrusted two of the seven sounds needed to activate the Saezuri to a guard and handed two more to Dokku, then was cornered by Disonasu and slain, his three remaining sounds taken. Kabuto afterward exhumed his remains and reincarnated him to wring the final sounds from Dokku, sending him into Hacho Village disguised behind a blindfold; the reunion crumbled when Miina glimpsed him as a skeleton and he bared his reincarnated eyes. Recalled as useless after a brief struggle, he was summoned one last time so Kabuto could vent his failure, cut down again, and faded away with a final look at Miina.
