Gameplay

The game is a 3D cel-shaded arena fighter with a roster of more than thirty characters and a partner system that lets a chosen ally lend extra abilities during a bout. Detailed 3D backdrops fill out the stages. Two standout modes appear here: Soul Road sends a picked fighter and partner across a board-game map to clear marked battles, while Karakura Heroes offers its own multi-hero challenge.

Story

The scenario stretches from the Soul Society sneak-entry arc up to the opening of the Arrancar arc, marked by Ulquiorra Cifer's arrival. A story mode threads these events together using anime cutscenes, pre-fight dialogue, and real-time sequences.

Release

Eighting develops the game and Sony Computer Entertainment publishes it for the PlayStation Portable, launching in Japan on July 20, 2006. The Heat the Soul series stays a Japanese line, so this installment does not see a North American release.
