Gameplay

The deck building koma system returns with a bigger four by five panel grid and three panel types: battle panels for actual fighters, support panels for short lived assists, and help panels for stat boosts. Ganbarion also layers in a rock paper scissors style match up between character natures, Strength beats Knowledge, Knowledge beats Laughter, and Laughter beats Strength, adding a strategic wrinkle to deck construction on top of the earlier game's shape puzzle. Unlike its predecessor, Ultimate Stars supports Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for online matches.

Premise

As with the first game, there is no unifying original plot; the draw is a mashup roster spanning 41 different manga series and 305 total characters, 56 of whom are fully playable fighters. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure supplies ten characters to that cast, with Jotaro Kujo and his Stand Star Platinum facing off against Dio Brando and his time stopping Stand The World, alongside supporting koma pulled from the same arc.
