Black hair juts up in short spikes above eyes that stay open wide, their veins standing out. He ties a blue Suna forehead protector bandana-style across his mouth.

An orange poncho sits at his neck over green suspenders at his midriff, and he pairs brown trousers with long arm warmers and bandaging wound around his arms.

There is something unhinged about him, a genuine relish for combat and bloodshed. Yet before Saya he turns submissive, addressing her as his lady and cowering whenever her temper flares.

Mamushi prefers to engage at close to middling range, loosing long venomous serpents he keeps tucked within his sleeve to paralyze his targets. He put these to use in the joint Chunin Exams, where his squad cleared the first round and pressed into the second inside the Demon Desert.

There he and Sana traded blows with Choji of Team Asuma; a giant Choji pinned the pair until Saya freed them by turning her puppet technique on him. After Ino drove Saya out and Choji scattered the Suna team, they regrouped for another strike, veiling Mamushi in sand for a surprise assault, only for Sakura to burst through and drop the whole team with one punch. His team ultimately reached the finals building, though the exams were called off early amid controversy, and Gaara ruled that each village leader would judge their own entrants for promotion.
