Function

Within the manga and its Crystal and Eternal adaptations, the earlier Holy Grail is elevated into the Holy Moon Chalice during the Dream arc, and from that point it lets Usagi Tsukino rise into Eternal Sailor Moon.

The anime never names or explains the item. It debuts in episode 187, after Sailor Chibi Chibi charges Eternal Sailor Moon's scepter with extra energy and enables a fresh, stronger healing move, Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss. As that attack begins, the chalice materializes and fastens to the base of the Eternal Tiare. The Tiare then stretches out from below it, and this extended form, dubbed the Moon Power Tiare, proves far more potent, able to purify phages of considerably greater strength.

Notable Users

Eternal Sailor Moon is the only wielder of the chalice. Its common name traces back to a Bandai toy replica marketed as the Rainbow Moon Chalice, even though the manga itself continued to call the object the Holy Grail.
